The Hospital GameThe Hospital Game is a version of "Collaboration", an board game devised specifically to help teams experiece the challenges of communication and decision-making across a complex organisation.
Eight players sit-around the game-board, each taking the role in the hospital executive team. Each player is allowed to move counters according to given rules. The object of the game is to maximise the value of the hospital. The game board is based on the Three Circles model, a systems-dynamics model of organisational value. The game demonstrates the systemic nature of high-level decisions - how decisions need to be "joined up" in order to add value. Players soon learn how decisions can have unexpected consequences. The game takes about three hours to play. The lessons learned can be brought back into the hospital or used with existing teams as a way to unearth difficulties in communication, within a safe environment. Want help?We can facilitate the Hospital Game within your organisation, or teach you how to facilitate it effectively.
